Didn't learn in my forties what I thought I would

My visit to Dr. Hackett was great but inconclusive. I am scheduling an MRI to see what's going on in there. Based on my right shoulder, for which I had surgery in 2011, it could be any number of culprits from a SLAP tear with a biceps tendon injury to arthritis (which I deal with in the the other shoulder.

I'll find out more, of course, but I'm having a hard time not blaming myself. I swore that my 50s would be different from my 40s because I would "learn how to be an older climber." Still, I was feeling fit, went bouldering (against my better judgement) and competed at a local comp. Even though my shoulder hurt, I knew that if I could just reappoint this one route I'd win the comp overall (not just the old guy category). I quit before it was over, but I'd already made one move too many. Ugh.
