The Black Hills in Western South Dakota is one of North America¿s premier limestone sport-climbing areas. Well protected routes on bomber, blue and tan limestone makes for spectacular climbing. From the pocket paradise of Spearfish Canyon with routes on vertical to slightly overhanging rock, to The VC with its forearm-blasting, knee-bar-scumming steep headwalls, the diversity of the climbing here is smorgasbord of styles. This first edition describes over 700 climbs at Spearfish Canyon, The VC, Bethlehem, and Falling Rock.

Amazing for trip planning
I've been planning a trip for sport in the hills and this has been super helpful. Based on prior knowledge about the hills it is very accurate as well.

Fairly Complete guide
I recently purchased this as i am new to climbing and have no ties to climbing community. It is a fairly complete guide with ratings and decent directions. I enjoyed the stories throughout and really appreciate the detailed drawn routes and grading. Keeps me from jumping on what looks like an easy route and having it be well above my current climbing level. There is a typo or two and missing a couple sections of wall but I am satisfied with it and recommend it as the best book for area.
